Job Description Summary: This position is responsible for the Supervision of the activities of all personnel of the Northfield VT Police Department engaged in Law Enforcement and general Police services. This position reports directly to the Chief of Police.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential:

Provides oversight of Special Assignments and assists in the planning and deployment of resources.

Supervises and oversees the activities of all Police personnel and makes first line supervisory decisions.

Responds to calls for service when the incident necessitates the presence
of management.

Assists with training, developing, evaluating, counseling of subordinate personnel.

Reviews incident reports involving employees, investigates and resolves incidents; prepares written responses.
Qualifications:
-
A bachelor’s degree in business, Public Administration, management, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred.

A minimum of eight years of full time Police experience in Law Enforcement or Municipal Police Department in a patrol function.

Vermont Criminal Justice Council level III certification or lateral transfer from
another state that is eligible for a certification waiver.

Proficient in all aspects of the investigation process.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including afternoon and overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.
