The FOP appeared before a Pennsylvania State Labor Relations Hearing Examiner on Thursday, November 3, 2011 to compel the city’s compliance with the provisions of the most recent Sheriff’s Department ACT 195 Arbitration Award issued in June.
Prior to the hearing, the FOP ensured that the 2.5% (due July 1, 2010 and July 1, 2011) raises contained in the award were appearing in members paychecks. This 5% increase is not reflected in your paychecks.
The FOP has also been successful in having new checks issued due to the city’s failure to comply with the newly obtained $500 dollar Clothing Maintenance checks when the clothing checks were issued on September 15th. All members should have received checks containing the missing $175 dollars by September 30.
At this time, the city has still failed to comply with the contract provisions regarding step and longevity increases. That failure to adhere to that portion of the contract is the reason for the FOPs appearance before the Labor Board. The FOP is confident that this remaining issue will be rectified shortly.
