Passage of 1828 Means no Layoffs

HB1828 WAS PASSED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 BY THE STATE SENATE 32-17. THIS BILL, WHICH THE PHILADELPHIA FOP SUPPORTED, PROVIDES RELIEF TO THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA.

THIS BILL WAS SIGNED BY GOVERNOR RENDELL AND BECOME LAW IMMEDIATELY.

IT WAS ANNOUNCED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATION THAT THERE WILL BE NO LAYOFFS OR CUTS IN CITY SERVICES IN THAT THE BILL HAS PASSED.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN ANNOUNCED THAT THE SALES TAX INCREASE WILL TAKE EFFECT ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2009.

IT IS CLEAR AND ACKNOWLEDGED BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT FOP LODGE 5 WAS A LEADER IN THIS EFFORT, STANDING FIRM AND TOGETHER, WORKING EXTREMELY HARD TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND CURRENT PENSION RIGHTS. THE FINAL VERSION OF HB1828 PRESERVES THOSE RIGHTS.
