Some Pension Checks Short Due to City Taking Money Owed to Them

For Your Information: We have received several phone calls today from pensioners concerning a letter they received from the City of Philadelphia, Board of Pensions.

Apparently, 13,000 such letters were sent out to pensioners from all the unions.

The letter stated that any pensioner who owes the city money, such as for unpaid Real Estate taxes, city wage taxes, fees, levies, et cetera. the City has the right to take up to 25% from their pension checks to pay back the money owed.

We have checked and the legal opinion is; the City in fact, has the right to garnish the pension checks for up to 25% for money owed.

If anyone receives letter stating that the City is removing money from their checks, put in an appeal and request to receive documentation that proves that you are the person who actually owes the money.

This is a shocking development before Christmas however they can do this to recover the unpaid taxes, fees, et cetera.
