Philadelphia FOP Charitable Foundation

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Charitable Foundation is our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all contributions are tax-deductible. The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Charitable Foundation was established decades ago to raise money to help our members and their families in need, especially our survivor families of members killed in action. We also provide college scholarships to members’ families as well as help with other worthy charitable causes for our members and within our communities.

We continually raise funds all year long for two longstanding fundraising campaigns: Survivor Families and FOP Scholarships. These campaign donations are meticulously accounted for and designated to these two specific causes within the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Charitable Foundation. General donations are also accepted for other charitable causes within our membership and our communities.

Our Survivor Families campaign (colloquially known as the Survivors Fund) honors fallen officers and support their families. Sustained by donations from Philadelphia-area individuals and businesses, the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Charitable Foundation has paid for police officer’s funerals and other immediate family needs, funded special events, and provided long-term financial and emotional assistance to more than 280 surviving spouses and children—some dating back to 1828. See our Fallen Heroes Honor Roll for complete list of Fallen Heroes. Under FOP President Roosevelt Poplar, special attention is given to recent families to help them adjust to their new life circumstances that were forced upon them. For nearly 30 years, FOP Lodge #5 has hosted a major Survivor Families Benefit each May at the close of Police Week.

Our FOP Scholarships campaign provides approximately $15,000 in college scholarships annually for the children and grandchildren of active and retired police officers who demonstrate a combination of academic distinction, community service, leadership, and a desire to add value to the Philadelphia Community. FOP Scholarships are intended to provide supplemental funding for the cost of tuition, room and board, or related educational expenses for deserving students seeking a college degree. In providing academic funding, the FOP wishes to promote academic achievement, civic responsibility, leadership, and ethical and moral stewardship.

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Charitable Foundation has also assisted officers who are seriously or catastrophically injured in the line of duty as well as officers and the families who have suffered grave misfortune such as house fires, COVID deaths, unexpected illnesses and sudden tragedies.

We are extremely grateful for the hundreds of donors over the years who have supported our heroes who protect us and their families.
