Disability and Injury on Duty info

If you or a fellow Officer is sick, injured on duty, and off-duty for an extended period of time, you should contact Ashley Hoggard or Joe Schrank as soon as possible to avoid any problems.

Ashley Hoggard and Joseph Schrank are the Disability Coordinators for Lodge 5. They work diligently to show all members they are not alone, regardless of any ailments they may face. Regardless of how little or big the problem may seem; every member should rest assured that they will take all matters seriously and treat everyone with the upmost respect.

The daily duties include assisting all members (Retired and Active) with all issues related to injuries sustained on duty and helping them navigate the disability system. They work with the Safety Office to inform the members of the different classification of benefits available and the relevant procedures in each system.

Injured Police Officers and Sheriff Deputies are entitled to additional classification of benefits that those under the PA Workers’ Compensation Act depending on the classification of the work injury. When a member is injured on duty, they are initially required to go to the assigned C.S. Reg. 32 Occupational Health clinic for their district. Currently those clinics are run by Concentra.

A member can request to transfer care into the Heart & Lung system if PMA classifies the injury as occurring within the performance of his/her official duties. Under the current CBA, the scope was narrowed
