Scholarship Fund

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #5 will offer college scholarships in 2025 for the children and grandchildren of active and retired police officers. The FOP Lodge #5 Scholarships are intended to provide supplemental funding for the cost of tuition, room and board, or related educational expenses for deserving students seeking a college degree. In providing academic funding, the FOP wishes to promote academic achievement, civic responsibility, leadership, and ethical and moral stewardship.

Applicants must plan to attend an accredited post-secondary institution (e.g., two- or four- year college/university), provide some documented service to the community, and be a person in good standing in the community. Scholarships for this dispensation of awards total $15,000, however, the FOP plans to increase the number of scholarships granted in the coming years through fund raising, private donations, and partnering with organizations whose reputation exemplifies the qualities we promulgate. The FOP Lodge #5 Scholarships are as followed:

• Two (2)$2,500 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate a combination of academic distinction, community service, leadership, and a desire to add value to the Philadelphia Community. Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average (GP A) of 3.5 or better as of June 2024, be a citizen in good standing (i.e., eligible for federal/ state grants, thus, not convicted of a felony), and able to provide necessary documents supporting exceptional commitment to academia and the community.

• Ten (10) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate a combination of academic dexterity, community involvement, and a desire to make a positive public impact. Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better as of June 2024, be a citizen in good standing, and able to provide supporting documents to determine eligibility.
